About this role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Project Controls Lead to join our Project Controls team at our Burnaby office. In this pivotal role, you will support the successful delivery of complex electrical technology and IMIT systems projects by leading planning, scheduling, documentation, cost tracking, performance reporting, and commissioning activities.
You will play a key role in ensuring projects are executed efficiently, on time, and within budget, while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance. If you bring a strong background in electrical, security, or healthcare technology systems deployment and thrive in a collaborative environment, we'd love to hear from you.
Your responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of project controls across assigned electrical technology and IMIT projects, including Nurse Call, RTLS, Audio Visual, Public Address, Intercom, Security Systems Telecommunication, Structured Cabling, and Video Surveillance
- Ensure consistent application of best practices in scope, schedule, cost, and risk management
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant processes, systems, and tools
- Train and coach project team members to ensure best practices
- Escalate concerns in a timely and effective manner
- Support accurate progress reporting and encourage use of standardized JES templates
- Assist in creating Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) aligned with installation methodologies
- Review monthly FLR and JSR documents and communicate any discrepancies
- Ensure effective documentation throughout the project lifecycle, including start-up, team, and close-out meetings
- Monitor quality control plans and perform spot checks on logs, photos, and records
- Verify documentation of constraints and delays, assessing their impact
- Provide direct support during the commissioning phase, including schedule consultation and coordination
- Participate in site-level coordination and scheduling meetings
- Assist with subtrade activity coordination and monitor operational readiness
Your experience and skills
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field
- 5 years of scheduling experience in electrical, security, or healthcare systems deployment, preferably in construction
- A combination of education and relevant experience may be considered
- Proven safety record with no infractions related to live work or lockout procedures
- Strong understanding of access control, networks, and IMIT systems
- Ability to read and provide feedback on project schedules
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Solid grasp of project financial concepts and reporting
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams)
- Experience with tools such as Procore, OpenSpace, Fieldwire, Smartsheet, and SharePoint
- Adaptability to organizational change
- Strong coaching and training abilities
