Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Trelent Full time $120,000 - $180,000 per year

TrelentTrelent is the platform for regulated businesses building AI-native workflow automations that rely on sensitive data. Both our SaaS platform and forward-deployed solutions for customers are core pillars of our business. We are venture-backed and building our team in Victoria BCJob OverviewYou will use Trelent's platform to build customized AI-native workflow automations for customers. You'll use tools like NextJS, various LLMs, and our set of APIs for data ingestion, search and more, to directly address customer problems. You will interface directly with our customers, at times be flown out to visit them on-site, and actively iterate on solutions with their teams. When you're done that, you'll work with the rest of our team to identify reusable components of those projects to pull directly into our platform. The type of person who will excel in this role is usually an aspirational founder. Someone who can empathize with customer problems, understand and interpret requirements from the customer, clearly communicate those to the rest of our team, yet also build out MVPs usable by the customer directly in a matter of days. You'll thrive as a self-motivated learner. We're not afraid to bet on talent early - you won't find us asking you for the school you went to or anything of the sort on our application. We get along with most folks fairly well, so our filter there is just that we can enjoy a beverage of choice together after work on occasionResponsibilitiesShip customer MVPs fast: build full-stack apps integrating LLMs and our ingestion/search APIs in a matter of days.Run discovery through building: lead feedback calls/onsites and translate insights into shipped changes.Own the loop end-to-end: prototype -> test/instrument -> iterate rapidly based on real usage.Integrate with customer systems: auth, data sources, 3rd-party toolsFix bugs across active customer projects with quick turnarounds and clear communication.Package for deployment: Dockerize servicesAdd basics for reliability: typing, tests, telemetry, feature flags, health checks, rollback plan.Handle data responsibly: PII/key management, tenant isolation, least-privilege access.Document architecture, decisions, and customer runbooks; share reusable patterns back to the platform.Travel to customer sites as needed (some months up to ~50%) for discovery, testing, and launches.ExperienceExcellent communication skills. You must be able to clearly articulate complex technical topics to non-technical stakeholders.Strong full-stack and Python fundamentals; comfort building UIs with ShadCN + Tailwind, and wiring them to APIs.Hands-on with LLMs (prompting, evaluation, tool integration) and modern AI SDKs (Vercel AI SDK, OpenAI Agents SDK).Building from zero to one: shipping MVPs in days, not weeks; founder/owner mindset.Integrations: OAuth/auth, webhooks, third-party APIs.Basic DevOps: Docker, K8S is a bonusSecurity hygiene: secrets management, PII handling, multi-tenant considerations.Excellent customer collaboration: leading feedback sessions, scoping trade-offs, crisp written docs.Bonus: former founder.
