Senior Backend Engineer

MatchBox Consulting Group is currently seeking a
Senior Backend Engineer
for a permanent role with a client of ours located in Vancouver

Responsibilities

• Build core product features across backend APIs, frontend interfaces, and AI-enabled workflows.
• Design and implement agentic systems that orchestrate LLMs, data pipelines, and integrations.
• Manage the software development lifecycle for high-impact initiatives, from concept through production and iteration.
• Partner with product, design, and ML/AI teams to turn customer problems into intuitive, intelligent solutions.
• Translate research breakthroughs in LLMs and agentic orchestration into production-ready features.
• Contribute to architectural decisions, technical scoping, and roadmap planning.
• Champion best practices for secure, observable, and testable code across frontend and backend.
• Optimize for performance, scalability, and developer velocity with CI/CD, IaC, and automated testing.
• Provide technical mentorship and help shape the engineering culture.
• Design and evolve APIs and data systems that support multi-tenant SaaS at enterprise scale.
• Build resilient integrations with CRM, ERP, and analytics platforms (e.g., HubSpot, NetSuite, SFDC).
• Leverage AWS, containerization, and monitoring to deliver high availability and seamless scaling.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional experience in Backend or Full stack development.
• Strong proficiency with Python.
• Hands-on experience with relational + NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, SQL Server).
• Track record of delivering scalable, production-grade features in startup or high-growth environments.
• Experience building and consuming APIs, integrating third-party services, and deploying via cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred).
• Knowledge of secure coding, performance optimization, and CI/CD workflows.
• Excellent communication skills with a bias for action.

Nice To Have

• Proficient with React/Typescript
• Experience with LLMs, agent orchestration, prompt engineering, or ML-powered applications.
• Familiarity with vector databases, embeddings, time-series data, or data analytics pipelines.
• Background in B2B SaaS, revenue operations, or sales intelligence.
• Contributions to open source AI/ML or developer tooling projects.
