ContainerWest is seeking an experienced professional to join our Richmond team as Engineering Manager. You will take charge of the design and technical execution of exciting projects, including fire training structures, industrial enclosures, generator units, storage and production support units, retail and public space multi-storey, offices, plaza amenities, washrooms and more.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership
- Oversee the design process, provide practical solutions to customer's problems.
- Develop and meet a design timeline that maintains a backlog of approved work for Production.
- Help solve Production barriers to meet customer deadlines.
- Manage external consultants and design contractors from time to time depending on project and schedule requirements.
- Ensure engineering practices align with EGBC's Organizational Quality Management Program.
Employee Leadership
- Provide functional leadership to Project Engineers and EITs.
- Foster a culture of professional practice, innovation through standardization/simplification for manufacturing, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Build strong relationships with clients, partners, subcontractors, and consultants.
- Mentor junior staff and support ContainerWest's EIT and employee development programs.
What You Bring to the Table
- 15+ years of experience in manufacturing or design/build projects in Canada
- A solid understanding of steel construction including familiarity with welding, fabrication, industrial manufacturing or field projects. Technically strong.
- Proven success with fixed price contracts and tight schedules.
- Results oriented and decisive with the ability to delegate effectively.
- People oriented leadership with a reputation for successfully attracting, mentoring and motivating a team.
- High level of initiative, sound judgment, and a collaborative mindset.
- Passion for building a differentiated in-house engineering capability.
- Excellent communication skills in English (verbal and written).
- Strong understanding of scope, cost, schedule, change, and risk management.
- Effective organizational and time management skills in handling multiple priorities, performing a variety of tasks, and meeting required deadlines.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Civil or Structural Engineering from a Top Tier University.
- P.Eng. registered with EGBC (licensing in other provinces is an asset).
- Familiarity with BC Building Code and the design of steel structures.
- Familiarity with EGBC's Organizational Quality Management Program and/or ISO 9001.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project, SolidWorks or AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive salary range: $140,000 – $180,000
