Ignite donor support for Ontario's heritage

The Ontario Heritage Trust is seeking a dynamic, results-oriented leader to oversee the development and implementation of strategies, plans, and materials aimed at securing donations from individuals, corporations, and foundations. In this role, you will guide the Trust's fundraising initiatives, ensuring effective donor recognition and stewardship while driving business development efforts that support the organization's mission

About the job

In this role, you will:

  • research and solicit prospective donors by developing tailored strategies, approaches, and marketing materials for senior management review
  • provide stewardship for donor and sponsor relationships through effective recognition and identification of new support opportunities
  • lead the development and implementation of fundraising campaigns (e.g., Planned Giving), including strategy, content creation, and design of promotional materials
  • manage corporate events and contribute to strategic planning sessions to identify and secure sponsorships for initiatives such as Heritage Week and Doors Open
  • oversee the creation and distribution of Impact Reports, including research, content development, layout, and collaboration on supporting materials
  • retain and supervise consultants by preparing terms of reference, managing contracts, and ensuring alignment with campaign goals

Fundraising expertise:

You can:

  • demonstrate knowledge, principles and techniques of fundraising, communication, promotion and project management
  • support achievement of established fundraising targets and promote Trust fundraising objectives
  • demonstrate knowledge of developments, techniques and emerging trends in fundraising, donor/sponsor recognition and stewardship to monitor the effectiveness of strategies, and maintain and grow the donor/sponsor base
  • interpret and apply related legislation, legal and financial guidelines, policies, practices and precedents
Communication and interpersonal skills:

You can:

  • demonstrate oral and written communication skills to develop and implement campaigns
  • manage corporate events and the publishing process
  • maintain records, prepare reports, briefing materials and presentations using computer software (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, and database) and specific applications/systems (e.g., Raiser's Edge)
  • demonstrate presentation skills to present the objectives and merits of donor participation and inform them of income tax advantages from contributions
  • demonstrate consultation, advisory and consensus-building skills to collaborate with a variety of committees and establish successful relationships with donors/sponsors
Project management and leadership skills

You can:

  • demonstrate project planning and supervising skills
  • develop and implement strategies, plans and approaches
  • supervise consultants and provide stewardship over the donor/sponsor relationship
