Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Fireproofing Applicator at our Mount Uniacke location. You will be responsible for applying fire-resistant coatings and materials to various surfaces, ensuring that buildings and structures are protected from the devastating effects of fire. Your primary role will involve interpreting project specifications, preparing surfaces, mixing, and applying fireproofing materials, and inspecting finished work to guarantee compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.
Responsibilities:
· Read and interpret blueprints, data, drawings, and project specifications.
· Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, or applying primer as necessary.
· Mix and apply fire-resistant coatings and materials using appropriate tools and equipment.
· Operate spray guns, pumps, and other application devices effectively and safely.
· Ensure proper coverage and thickness of fireproofing materials according to project requirements.
· Conduct inspections to assess the quality of finished work and make necessary touch-ups or corrections.
· Collaborate with team members and other trades to coordinate project activities.
· Follow safety protocols and regulations to prevent accidents and injuries on the job site.
· Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition and report any issues promptly.
· Complete necessary paperwork and documentation related to job tasks and materials used.
· Typical job hours would be 6am-6pm depending on location of job.
· Working on the road Monday to Friday often – Hotel and meal allowance provided as needed (for overnight stays).
Experience and Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Fireproofing Applicator or similar role in the construction industry considered an asset.
- Familiarity with various fireproofing materials, techniques, and application methods.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, data, drawings, and project specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures related to fireproofing applications.
- Certification or training in fireproofing application would be considered an asset.
- Additional safety training considered an asset.
- Knowledgeable of electronics considered an asset.
- Valid driver's license, clean abstract, and reliable transportation to job sites required.
- Class 1 Drivers License, air brakes or additional endorsements preferred.
- Ability to travel within Atlantic provinces, Monday - Friday.
- Must be able to meet physical demands (i.e. lifting/holding heavy materials comfortably, standing for long periods).
- Physical stamina and ability to work in various weather conditions and at heights.
