About the Position
We are seeking a skilled and versatile Hydraulic Repair Technician to join our growing team in New Glasgow. This role involves a mix of hydraulic service and repair work, both in-shop and in the field, as well as duties within a fabrication and machine shop environment.
The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical and hydraulic troubleshooting skills, with experience in welding, machining, and component sourcing to support the repair and manufacture of hydraulic components.
Specific Roles and Responsibilities
Hydraulic Service & Repair (Shop & Field):
- Diagnose, disassemble, repair, and reassemble hydraulic systems and components, including pumps, motors, valves, and cylinders.
- Conduct field service calls for diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs at customer locations.
- Use hydraulic testing equipment to inspect system performance and ensure repairs meet OEM standards.
- Prepare detailed service reports, documenting all work performed, parts used, and labour hours.
- Assist in sourcing parts and components as required to build systems and repair components
- Communicate with customers and supervisors to provide repair recommendations and timelines.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, ensuring all tools and equipment are in good working condition.
Fabrication & Machine Shop Duties:
- Perform MIG/TIG/stick welding for component repair and custom fabrication.
- Assist in manufacturing or modifying hydraulic components to spec, including threading, honing, or facing.
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to repair and assemble parts accurately.
- Perform internal equipment repairs on a wide array of Fabrication and Machining equipment
- Assist in the assembly of industrial machinery builds
- Assist in heavy duty mechanical repairs of customer equipment (forestry, municipal, agricultural, mining)
Key Skills, Capabilities & Experience:
Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on experience in hydraulic repair and general mechanical work.
Proficiency in operating basic machining tools and welding equipment.
Solid understanding of hydraulic theory and component function.
Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Valid Class 5 driver's licence and clean abstract (required for field service).
Ability to travel locally and occasionally work overtime or extended hours as required.

Pay: $32.00-$38.00 per hour
