Job Summary

This position is for a mainframe developer who will work on projects involving the design and development of mainframe and windows client applications. The role requires the developer to work on both the conceptual and technical phases, ensuring that all system changes are compliant with OPS standards and effective knowledge transfer occurs throughout the assignment.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze current system designs and code structures
  • Define technical database requirement changes for new systems
  • Create technical specifications according to OPS standards
  • Identify problems and propose mitigation strategies
  • Provide regular status reports on progress
  • Develop and modify code according to signed off specifications
  • Participate in JAD sessions to vet designs and obtain signoff
  • Coordinate integration testing and participate in defect correction
  • Ensure QA technical standards in all artifacts and code
  • Prepare and execute unit and integration tests

Skill Set Requirements

  • Experience with z/OS V2.2 or higher
  • Expertise in file and database management tools such as File Aid V10.1 or IBM File Manager V13.1
  • Experience with IMS DB V12 or higher (HALDB and DEDB) using the PLITDLI API
  • Experience with DB2 for z/OS V11 or higher
  • 5+ years of experience writing mainframe PL/I transactions that process XML input/output
  • Recent experience with PL/I V4.5 or higher within the last 5 years
  • Experience in Endevor source control tool and writing checkpoint restartable IMS BMPs
  • Expertise with IBM Debug Tool V13.1, DFSORT utility, and failure diagnostic tools
  • Programming knowledge in Fujitsu NetCOBOL V4 or higher
  • 10+ years of experience in programming and analysis
  • Experience designing windows client applications interacting with IMS TM applications
  • Familiarity with policies and procedures of public sector related to transportation safety
  • Visual Studio and Visual Studio Debugger experience
  • Experience with Harvest Source Control V12.5 or higher
  • Scripting experience for SFTP in a mainframe environment
  • Experience with mainframe Screen Handling (MFS) and SCREENIO software
