Position Overview
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Moving Truck Driver and Mover to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving company trucks, safely loading and unloading household or commercial goods, and ensuring the efficient and timely delivery of items to our customers. This role requires excellent customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle physical labor.
Key Responsibilities
- Moving and Driving
- Safely operate moving trucks of various sizes to transport goods to and from specified locations.
- Follow assigned routes and adhere to schedules to ensure timely delivery.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, ensuring all equipment is in good working order.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, mileage, and deliveries as required by company policies and regulations.
- Loading and Unloading
- Assist with the packing, loading, and unloading of household or commercial goods, ensuring items are securely packed and protected.
- Use moving equipment such as dollies, ramps, and straps to facilitate safe and efficient loading and unloading.
- Ensure all items are accounted for and properly labeled, documenting any discrepancies or damages.
- Customer Service
- Provide friendly and professional service to customers, addressing any questions or concerns.
- Communicate effectively with customers and team members to coordinate delivery times and any special requirements.
- Handle customer belongings with care and respect, ensuring a positive customer experience.
- General Duties
- Assist with the disassembly and reassembly of furniture as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the truck and moving equipment.
- Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and traffic laws.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or management.
Qualifications
- Experience
- Previous experience in moving, delivery driving, or a related field is preferred.
- Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Experience driving large vehicles and knowledge of road safety regulations.
- Skills and Abilities
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 50 lbs) repeatedly.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Other Requirements
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions.
