Food Service Helper - Contract

About The Opportunity
Our Public Sector Client, located in Petawawa, is seeking Food Service Helpers to support cafeteria operations.

This opportunity offers the chance to be part of a team providing vital food services to personnel and staff. The kitchen operates in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where quality, safety, and reliability are key. Successful candidates will contribute directly to maintaining daily meal service and ensuring a positive dining experience for all patrons.

As part of the food services team, you will assist in the preparation and delivery of meals within a cafeteria-style kitchen.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting in the preparation of food items such as peeling and cleaning vegetables, cutting cakes, breads, and cheese, and slicing meats
  • Assisting in receiving, unloading, and storing food items; gathering supplies from storage areas and delivering them to meal preparation stations
  • Delivering food products and services to clients in dining rooms and serving areas, including boxed lunches, dispersed meals, and sandwich bars; providing table service and replenishing items as required
  • Cleaning, using, and maintaining kitchen facilities, fixed and portable equipment such as dishwashers, coffee pots, pots and pans, and associated utensils; reporting any equipment issues immediately
  • Assisting in storing and distributing food and non-food service supplies, including weighing, portioning, packaging, and labelling ingredients
  • Cleaning and disinfecting work surfaces, equipment, floors, and dining areas to maintain hygiene and safety standards
  • Communicating any service or operational issues to supervisors promptly

About You
The successful candidatewill have the following:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 3 hours without a break).
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and performing repetitive tasks involving lifting, twisting, and bending
  • Comfortable working in a busy, team-oriented environment with minimal supervision
  • Willingness and ability to work shift work, weekends, and statutory holidays as required
  • Minimum of Reliability Security Clearance (must be obtained prior to assignment)
  • English essential

About the Job

  • Location: CFB Petawawa, Ontario
  • Duration: ASAP to December 5, 2025 (with possible extension)
  • Hours: 37.5 hours per week (shift work including weekends and holidays)
  • Security Clearance: Reliability Status required
  • Language Requirement: English Essential
