Title: Volunteer Member (Plus) Changeroom

Hours: Weekdays after 3:30pm

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Facility Cleaning Supervisor/Manager, this position plays an essential role in ensuring that those who hold a plus membership at the YMCA enjoy a comfortable, clean, and positive experience while utilizing our facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure facility quality standards are met and maintained regarding cleanliness and safety.
  • Maintain a clean and clutter-free environment within the Plus Member changerooms.
  • Assist with laundry related duties, including collection of towels, loading and unloading of laundry machines, folding towels, and replenishing towels in the Plus Member locker rooms.
  • Ensure proper availability of supplies, including paper towel, hand sanitizer, soap, etc.
  • Foster a positive, comfortable environment for other staff, volunteers, members, participants, and visitors to the facility.
  • Interact with all in a friendly and welcoming manner.
  • Assist with restocking supplies for coffee machines in Plus Member changerooms.
  • Report any known or predicted safety hazards.
  • Promote other YMCA programs, services, and certifications during class(es) to help members engage in multiple forms of physical activity, community building, and begin their YMCA journey.
  • Assist the staff with documenting any incidents or accidents, no matter how minor, and communicate these back to the Cleaning Supervisor/Manager on the same day. 

Qualifications & Skills

  • Strong work ethic and desire for cleanliness and tidiness.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Dedication to safety and quality.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision.

Please note that all volunteers of the YMCA of Greater Halifax/Dartmouth are required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check, clear Child Abuse Registry Check.
