TEMPORARY, CONTRACT POSITIONS: HEALTH PEI IS HIRING FOR FULL-TIME AND PART-TIME HOURS

The incumbent will assist, under supervision of a Registered Nurse, with the basic nursing care of residents in a Long-Term Care setting. The Resident Care Worker is the personal care provider for residents within the long-term care setting. The purpose of their position is to provide professional, high quality, holistic care in a manner that considers the residents physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual needs. A primary responsibility is to deliver person-centered care.

The Resident Care Worker will use the skills and competencies within their scope of practice in the performance of job duties and tasks, as an integral member of the nursing care team and is responsible for working to their full scope of practice. This position will require shift work including weekends.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent as recognized by the Employer
  • Successful completion of a recognized Resident Care Worker Program or equivalent training recognized by the employer.
  • Good previous work and attendance record.
  • Good communication and judgment skills
  • Capable of sustained physical activity
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multi disciplinary team environment.
  • Effective communication skills with staff, patients and families.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • The successful applicant must successfully complete additional training to prepare for the acute care environment as provided by the employer.

Other Qualifications:

  • Previous, recent experience would be an asset.
  • Additional training in dementia care or palliative care is an asset
  • Additional relevant education and experience will be considered an asset.

Pay: $26.63-$28.96 per hour
