This position works in the Police – CPIC organizational unit. This is operational and clerical work to the provision and receipt of information to and from Canadian Police Information Centers (CPIC). The incumbent operates a variety of computer terminals, codes and types information and requests; receives, decodes and relays incoming information and data to appropriate recipients; enters, modifies, removes or confirms warrant and court records; verifies information entered by other staff and/or provided by other agencies; updates and revises entries; conducts monthly review of data validation and purge lists. Assigns specified OSR codes for warrants and diary dates in accordance with prescribed rules. Prepares, maintains, updates and revises a variety of files, forms, documents and records. Contacts various agencies, such as other detachments and Motor Vehicle Branches, for additional information; accesses external computer systems to obtain information; provides information regarding CPIC standards and procedures to detachment members, as required. May provide CPIC orientation to other civilian staff. Performs related work as required.

Qualifications include the completion of Grade 12 including or supplemented by word processing, commercial, PRIME and/or CPIC operator's courses, plus some clerical-typing experience preferably in the Police Department, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Sound knowledge of the methods, practices and procedures used in operating CPIC, other computer terminal equipment and the PRIME system; rules, regulations and policies governing the work performed; clerical and record keeping methods and procedures and of business English, spelling and arithmetic. Ability to memorize applicable system codes and procedures; perform computer terminal operational and clerical work under general supervision; maintain effective working relationships with internal and external contacts such as court officials, other police detachments, etc. Skill in the operation of equipment used in work. The incumbent will be required to obtain and maintain an RCMP Enhanced Security Clearance.
