Job Overview

We're looking for a detail-oriented Construction Estimator / Material Takeoff Specialist to review architectural and structural drawings and prepare accurate estimates of materials and quantities needed for various residential and commercial projects.

You will play a key role in helping our team plan budgets, source materials efficiently, and ensure accurate project cost forecasting.

Duties

  • Review architectural, structural, and MEP drawings to prepare quantity takeoffs and material estimates
  • Create detailed bills of quantities (BOQ) and cost summaries
  • Identify discrepancies, missing information, or potential cost impacts in project drawings
  • Collaborate with project managers, designers, and suppliers to validate estimates
  • Maintain organized records of drawings, estimates, and revisions
  • Provide timely and accurate estimates for multiple projects

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Construction Estimator, Quantity Surveyor, or Takeoff Specialist
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings and specifications
  • Proficiency in estimating/takeoff software such as Bluebeam Revu, PlanSwift, AutoCAD, or similar
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management
  • Background in construction, architecture, or civil engineering preferred

Nice to Have

  • Experience estimating in specific trades (e.g., framing, drywall, concrete, finishing, etc.)
  • Knowledge of local construction materials and pricing
  • Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 20 per week

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Calgary, AB T2G 5M2: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
