Italia Salami Co. is a growing and innovative food manufacturing company seeking a well-organized and self-motivated individual for the full-time position of Quality Assurance Technician.

The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible to ensure the production process meets superior food safety systems (HACCP) and quality standards from entry of raw materials into the facility, to the processing of goods, to shipment of finished product. The ideal candidate is exceptionally detail-oriented and will demonstrate an ability to work independently and be pro-active in identifying deviations and corrective actions. The current shift runs from Monday-Friday 7:00AM - 4:30PM, with the occasional start time of 6:30AM. However, the shift is subject to change based on production schedule.

The Quality Assurance Technician is a member of the Quality Assurance Department and reports to the Quality Assurance Supervisor.

Key functions of this role include:

  • Carry out pre-operational inspections at the end of washing operations and before production.
  • Conducting product sampling and environmental swabbing
  • Ensuring day-to-day manufacturing practices meet accepted food safety and product quality standards
  • Monitoring and following Good Manufacturing practices
  • Support production employees with proper GMP and food safety requirements, and ensure policies and procedures are being correctly carried out
  • Ensure that products meet the requested specifications
  • Ensure that CPs and CCPs are respected by production employees, and any non-conformities are being corrected quickly and accurately

Requirements:

  • Superior communication and organizational skills
  • Excellent decision-making and time-management skills
  • Post secondary education and/or related Quality Assurance experience
  • Knowledge of GMPs and HACCP systems
  • Experience in a food manufacturing environment is an asset
