Edmonton Catholic Schools is accepting applications for the candidates enrolled in PPCEP Programme de perfectionnement des compétences et de l'expérience pour francophones et nouveaux arrivants through Campus Saint Jean. The casual Educational Assistant positions for day-to-day assignments in various schools /sites throughout the Division. Edmonton Catholic Schools offers French Immersion programming at twelve (12) sites, serving over 3000 students. We are now accepting applications for our French Immersion program for the 2025/2026 school year. The successful candidate will demonstrate fluency in French based on the four language domains (listening, reading, speaking, and writing).

This is a casual position, with no guarantee of hours to be worked. However, all casual hires are eligible to apply to internal temporary or permanent positions.

The job works as part of a multi-disciplinary team to assist students in learning and developing skills in the areas of socialization, communication, and behavior. The job also provides general support in the classroom.

Job Responsibilities:

• Assist teacher with planning, preparing, and implementing programs to meet student needs
• Organize classroom materials, activities, equipment, and programs
• Assist multi-disciplinary team with the implementation of developmental strategies
• Behaviour management
• Provide a range of personal and physical care
• Assist co-workers during peak periods and absences

Qualifications:

• High School diploma plus certificate/diploma in an area related to early childhood education or special needs education, plus one year directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and qualifications
• Knowledge of intervention techniques and strategies, first aid, CPR, and administering medication
• Knowledge of Microsoft programs including Word, Outlook, and the internet
• Ability to communicate with sensitivity, diplomacy, and tact is essential
• Ability to effectively communicate in the English language both oral and written with the ability to develop and maintain communication with students, teachers, and specialists; fluency in French is an asset
• Ability to travel to sites within Edmonton
• Must be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident
