Role Overview:

As part of the finance team, you will support lease accounting, property management, and financial reporting processes related to commercial properties. You will ensure accurate lease setup, recoveries, and reporting to support operational and strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and interpret commercial lease documents, including amendments, renewals, and terminations.
  • Provide guidance to accounting and property teams on operating costs, tax charges, and lease-related financial data.
  • Ensure accurate setup of leases in accounting/ERP systems.
  • Analyze and validate tenant billing, operating cost recoveries, and property tax recoveries.
  • Support budgeting processes by reviewing assumptions and prebilling rates.
  • Assist in investigating and responding to tenant inquiries or disputes.
  • Perform financial analysis on lease exceptions, recoveries, and property performance metrics.
  • Liaise with external consultants regarding tax recoveries or adjustments.
  • Collaborate with leasing, legal, and finance teams to draft or review lease-related documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, systems, and reporting related to lease accounting.
  • Support other analysts with complex lease interpretations or audits as needed.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business, or a related field.
  • 5–7+ years of experience in lease accounting, commercial real estate finance, or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles as they relate to property and lease accounting.
  • Experience with lease abstraction, recovery models, and ERP/accounting systems.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across teams and manage multiple priorities.
