Student Optician

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Student Optician to join our optical team. The ideal candidate will assist patients in selecting and fitting eyewear, provide exceptional customer service, and support the overall operations of our optical practice. Duties

• Assist patients in selecting eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other optical products based on their prescriptions and personal preferences
• Measure and fit eyewear accurately, ensuring proper alignment and comfort
• Provide detailed explanations of lens options, coatings, and frame features to help patients make informed decisions
• Conduct adjustments and repairs on eyewear as needed
• Maintain knowledge of current optical products, trends, and technological advancements
• Support the optical department with inventory management, ordering supplies, and maintaining cleanliness
• Collaborate with optometrists and other staff to ensure seamless patient care
• Utilize optical software systems such as Epic for record keeping and appointment scheduling

Requirements

• Strong understanding of medical terminology related to eye care and optics
• Laboratory experience or optical experience is preferred but not required; training will be provided for qualified candidates
• Experience in retail sales or customer service, with a focus on sales techniques and product knowledge
• Knowledge of retail management principles is a plus
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
• Prior experience with Epic or similar electronic health record systems is advantageous
• A professional attitude with a commitment to providing exceptional patient service
