AWS Financial Technology Team is looking for a strong technical leader results-oriented, driven who can help us create the next generation of distributed, scalable automated planning systems. Our ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, relishes building high-performance reliable systems, and enjoys the challenge of highly complex business contexts that are typically being defined in real-time. You will have an opportunity to build state of the art centralized front end experience for AWS Finance and Business teams to enable rich analytics and insights, and improve overall planning efficiency for AWS business. Apart from technical complexity, you will have an opportunity to solve complex business problem to converge financial and operational plans and work across across Service, Infrastructure and Finance leadership teams.

Key job responsibilities

As a Software Development Manager, you will lead a team of engineers in design, development, test, and deployment of a critical set of services. You will make analytical data-driven decisions, apply your strong technical ability to audit and design systems, manage engineering projects and evangelize your team's products and ideas. You will hire the best, mentor and develop your team. Manage and execute against project plans and delivery commitments. You will manage the day-to-day activities of the engineering team within an Agile/Scrum environment. You will report on status of work, quality, and operations, and system performance to management. You will be responsible for both development and operations of the services.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience
  • 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
  • 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
  • Experience delivering products against plan in a fast-paced, multi-disciplined, distributed-responsibility and often ambiguous environment
  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

The base salary for this position ranges from $171,400/year up to $286,200/year. Salary is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
