Job Description: Under the direction of the Chief Psychologist/Director of Forensic Services and as a part of an interdisciplinary team, the Social Worker – MSW provides a range of screening, assessment, treatment and case coordination services to adults receiving mental health treatment in the short-term psychiatric rehabilitation service, extended psychiatric rehabilitation service, forensic services, and the integrated correctional service at Saskatchewan Hospital North Battleford. The incumbent supports program planning and evaluation, consultation, evaluation of clinical interventions, preceptor students in formal clinical practicum, and provides education and support to communities, where applicable, regarding mental health and addictions services.

Experience

  • Exp in in-patient mental health and forensic environments is considered an asset

  • Master of Social Work (MSW)

  • Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers (SASW)

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Knowledge of community resources including treatment programs & support agencies
  • Ability to use professional judgement to plan appropriate interventions
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary setting.
  • Ability to identify, implement & evaluate areas of client difficulty
  • Ability to provide public presentation and professional training.
  • Knowledge of Recovery Philosophy
  • Knowledge and practical application of the Mental Health Services Act and Health Information Protection Act and other legislation
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to prepare reports in a clear, concise and timely manner.
  • Knowledge in addiction issues and mental health disorders
