We're seeking an experienced Team Lead, Infrastructure Services to join our Information Systems team. Reporting to the Manager, Information Systems, you'll lead and support the Team to deliver reliable and efficient infrastructure services across the organization.

The Infrastructure Team Lead ensures the delivery of high-quality IT services across Strathcona by maintaining reliable and efficient infrastructure systems. This role oversees the planning, design, implementation, and ongoing operations of all IT infrastructure, including storage, compute, and network environments. Responsibilities include managing core services such as cloud connectivity, business and process control networks, identity management, email, collaboration tools, backup and recovery, and data center operations. The position also provides Tier 2 and 3 support, leads change management initiatives, and supports IS processes to meet or exceed service delivery targets.

The Successful Candidate Will:

  • Lead, manage, recruit, motivate, and develop the team's personnel, providing direction, assignments, coaching, support and guidance through regular performance reviews, goal setting, career development, and succession planning
  • Ensure business value for the team's services and initiatives and always striving for continuous improvement and cost efficiency.
  • Operate the IS Infrastructure services for Strathcona
  • Accountable for quality management of all processes and services provided by the team, including process design and documentation; ensuring team member accountabilities, tasks and skills are mapped to Infrastructure services, and that secondary support plans are in place; setting quality targets; monitoring and measuring conformance against commitments; and ensuring day-to-day operational targets are being met.
  • Effectively support the Service Desk by providing Tier 2 & 3 services and support to IS team members and Strathcona Staff
  • Provide strategic leadership of IT Infrastructure, technology architecture, and standards, aligned with corporate business strategies and priorities
  • Develop strategic and tactical plans, and ensure delivery against the plans
  • Lead the team's project portfolio, ensuring effective business case analysis, planning, resourcing, execution, and closure of initiatives using appropriate project management practices
  • Engage in and provide leadership for maintaining effective relationships with customers, vendors, other IS teams, and senior management
  • Ensure appropriate communications to all end users and stakeholders regarding usage of and changes to IT infrastructure products, services, policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Manage all IT disaster recovery infrastructure and vendor relationships necessary for the business continuity of critical requirements
  • Develop budgets, manage expenditures, and ensure good financial stewardship within delegated authority limits
  • Ensure conformance to corporate and regulatory governance and controls requirements,
  • Monitor, analyze, interpret and report Infrastructure Service trends and make appropriate recommendations to capitalize on opportunities, mitigate risk and resolve issues. Provide ongoing service performance information to team members and yearly reports for team goals.
  • As a member of the IS Leadership Team, act as a change agent and strategic business partner, contributing to the development of strategies, policies, and programs related to all areas of Information Systems' products and services.

Qualifications Include:

  • 15 years progressively responsible experience and success in delivering IT services to operating business areas within complex organizations
  • A minimum of 5 years supervisory / management experience
  • Solid IT infrastructure development and support experience
  • Broad practical experience and knowledge of business strategies and functions
  • Broad practical experience and understanding of current information technologies

Education and Experience:

  • 4 year college / university degree in computer science, management information systems, business administration, engineering, or a related discipline
  • Continued courses and independent learning to keep current with changing technology and practices

Other Skills:

  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels in the organization, and demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with customers, external providers and contacts
  • Solid project management skills.
  • Effective change management, coaching, conflict management, problem solving, decision making, and verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of current technologies used in mid to large size enterprises, with a preference for Oil & Gas solutions and operating areas.

Work Environment:

  • Based at our head office in downtown Calgary.
  • May occasionally be called upon to provide 7 X 24 on-call support.
  • This position requires occasional travel to field offices and sites
