Background
Our client is looking for a Vulnerability Remediation Specialist to join their Technical Services team, focusing on Windows Server OS security and corporate applications. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and remediating security vulnerabilities across server operating systems and applications. This role requires hands-on experience with Qualys, Windows Server, Azure, and Active Directory security, along with the ability to collaborate across multiple teams to ensure effective vulnerability management and compliance with security standards.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in vulnerability management with a focus on Windows servers.
  • Strong background and hands-on experience with Active Directory / Azure AD, Exchange (On-Prem/Hybrid), and Office 365.
  • Hands-on experience developing secure OS hardening processes and ensuring compliance with standards such as CIS, NIST, and PCI.
  • Expertise with Qualys and patch management tools (e.g., SCCM).
  • Proficiency in scripting languages including PowerShell, batch, and Azure CLI.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for identifying and mitigating security risks.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional teamwork.
  • Certifications preferred: CISSP, CISM, CEH or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Vulnerability Assessment: Conduct regular vulnerability scans on Windows servers and corporate applications in collaboration with the Security team to identify and assess security risks.
  • Remediation Planning: Develop and execute remediation strategies with clear prioritization and timely resolution of identified vulnerabilities.
  • Reporting & Dashboards: Generate detailed reports on vulnerability status, remediation progress, and compliance metrics for management review.
  • Vulnerability Remediation:

  • Harden operating systems and applications following CIS, PCI, and NIST standards.

  • Collaborate with the patching team to deploy updates for Windows servers and corporate applications.
  • Implement fixes for non-patchable vulnerabilities.
  • Harden and remediate vulnerabilities in Active Directory, Azure AD, ADFS, and AD Sync.

  • System Management: Manage and troubleshoot Windows Server systems, Active Directory, domain group policies, DNS, PKI, and SCCM.

  • Incident Response: Partner with IT teams to respond to security incidents and implement corrective actions.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal security policies related to vulnerability management.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with IT teams, developers, and stakeholders to implement effective and sustainable security practices.
