Finance Assistant





Reporting to the Controller, the Finance
Assistant position is responsible for the preparation and processing of all
invoices and associated activities for accounts payable, revenue and cash
accounting entries and associated reporting activities. The Finance Assistant
supports the Controller in accurate data retrieval when preparing presentations
to the board of finance and audit committee, and works closely within the
Finance department team. The Finance Assistant ensures all daily
reconciliations are in place to support finance operations.

Primary
Responsibilities:

Preparing and processing
invoices and all associated Accounts Payable activities. 


Support payroll processing to ensure employees are
paid accurately and on time.

Completing revenue and
cash accounting entries, including daily reconciliations.

·       
Preparing and posting
journal entries with accuracy and timeliness.

·       
Performing bank and
account reconciliations to support month-end and year-end processes.

·       
Setting up, tracking, and
reporting capital assets and maintaining depreciation schedules.

·       
Assisting in the
preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial statements.

·       
Conducting financial
analysis and supporting monthly and quarterly reporting.

·       
Preparing electronic fund
transfers (EFTs) and cheque payments.

·       
Maintaining accurate
financial data entry and documentation following internal controls.

·       
Supporting the Controller
with data retrieval and financial information for Board Finance and Audit
Committee presentations.

·       
Collaborating with the
Finance team to ensure smooth financial operations and continuous process
improvement.

·       
Supporting the interim
and year-end audit

·       
Performing general
finance administrative duties as required.

 

Qualifications

·       
Diploma or certificate in Accounting, Finance, or a
related field (degree considered an asset).

·       
Minimum 1–2 years of experience in accounting or
finance operations, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and
certification.

·       
Experience with Accounts Payable, reconciliations,
and journal entries preferred.

·       
Knowledge of payroll processes is an asset.

·       
Experience with accounting software, ERP systems
and PayWorks.

·       
Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office
Applications).

·       
Strong interpersonal and influencing skills,
building and maintaining a network of working relationships with both internal
and external clients and stakeholders.

·       
Highly organized multi-tasker, self-motivated,
detail-focused, and able to work without direct supervision or extensive
direction.

·       
Strong professional and ethical standards,
integrity, objectivity and confidence.

·       
Skilled in data compilation, tracking, collation,
analysis and report development.

Physical
Requirements

Regularly lifting weights, files, folders, etc, ranging
from 25 to 50 lbs. Additional tasks may involve varying levels of intensity in
activities such as lifting, standing, walking, balancing, reaching
overhead/forward/side, occasional climbing, bending/stooping, and kneeling.

Working
Conditions

This position requires the incumbent to
work in a standard office environment with minimal physical effort demands;
this position requires regular computer-based work and frequent interaction
with internal staff and external vendors. Due to the nature of this position,
mental stress varies as this position requires occasional extended hours during
peak periods such as month-end, year-end, and audit cycles. Work requires a
high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to meet tight
deadlines. The role involves handling confidential financial information,
performing repetitive data entry tasks, and occasionally lifting light office
materials.

About the position: This is a Full-time,
Non-Union position. The hours of work are 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (35 hours a
week) from Monday to Friday; however, the role does require occasional extended
hours. The comprehensive compensation package includes health and dental
benefits in addition to insurance coverage.

Hiring wage:  The annual compensation for this role is $46,787 to $58,484 (under review)
