About the Role
Allied Marine & Industrial Inc. is seeking a dynamic and visionary Business Development Manager focused on Marine Technical Solutions to directly support the further development of the newly formed partnership with WinGD. WinGD is the world leader in advance fuel technology, and the worlds second-largest manufacturer of slow-speed two-stroke marine engines. WinGD has recently entered a partnership with Allied Marine & Industrial and has selected Allied to be the North American WinGD representative. The Business Development Manager will be responsible for assisting in representing, coordinating, and managing the operational, contractual, and relationship-based responsibilities tied to the rapidly growing WinGD partnership.
Secondary to the management of the WinGD partnership, this role will lead additional high-impact initiatives across the marine sector, with a focus on technical advancement, strategic project development, and operational excellence. This role requires a unique blend of deep technical expertise in marine systems and strong business acumen, combined with the ability to inspire innovation and lead cross-functional teams from concept through to successful project execution.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of delivering complex, multi-stakeholder projects, particularly in areas such as ship repair, retrofitting, or clean fuel technologies, and will bring a forward-thinking mindset to drive transformation in a rapidly evolving industry.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Innovation
- Coordinate regular communications, reports, and updates with WinGD
- Support alignment of goals, expectations and deliverables between AMI, WinGD, and customers.
- Lead cross-functional teams through the full lifecycle of marine infrastructure and technology projects, from concept and feasibility to design, funding, and execution.
Business Development & Representation
- Support business development efforts in North America related to WinGD.
- Assist in identifying and securing potential clients or stakeholders for WinGD promotion.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including travelling for meetings and industry events.
Funding Strategy & Management
- Identify, secure, and manage government and institutional funding opportunities, including proposal development and post-award oversight.
Strategic & Regulatory Alignment
- Support executive decision-making through business case development, risk analysis, and ensure compliance with evolving marine regulations and standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; advanced business or leadership training. MBA or Master's in Engineering Management is preferred.
- 10+ years in the marine or shipbuilding sector, with at least 5 years in a leadership or project management role, and a strong record of delivering complex technical projects involving vessel systems or clean marine technologies.
- Proven ability to secure public/private funding (e.g., SWODF, FedDev, NSPS), lead cross-functional teams, and navigate regulatory frameworks and innovation trends in the maritime industry.
