The HR Generalist is responsible for delivering day-to-day HR operations support for employees across Canada and global locations. This role manages end-to-end employee lifecycle transactions, ensures accurate HR data within UKG, and provides high-quality support to employees and managers. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, tech-savvy, comfortable navigating international HR processes, and committed to delivering a seamless employee experience. This role is based in Montreal, Canada. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Process all employee lifecycle events in UKG, including new hires, job and pay changes, transfers (domestic and international), terminations, and data updates
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant processing aligned with company policies and local employment regulations
  • Partner with Payroll, IT, and HR Business Partners to maintain data integrity and system alignment
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to ensure smooth handoff from recruitment to onboarding, including managing background checks (through HireRight or similar platforms) and tracking the process to ensure Day 1 readiness
  • Facilitate new hire orientation and ensure all onboarding documentation, system access, and benefits enrollment are completed
  • Maintain accurate employee data and conduct regular audits to ensure compliance and data quality
  • Support system updates, user acceptance testing, and enhancements in partnership with HRIS and IT team
  • Generate recurring HR reports (headcount, turnover, tenure, etc.) and provide insights to HR leadership
  • Act as the first line of support for HR-related inquiries, including benefits, policies, system navigation, employee records, and HRIS-related issues
  • Maintain complete and compliant employee records in accordance with Canadian privacy laws, GDPR, and other applicable global regulations and support audits for work authorizations, visas, and employment eligibility
  • Contribute to compliance reporting across multiple regions
  • Support HRBPs and HR leadership with organizational changes, data analysis, and reporting needs
  • Assist in HR processes such as performance reviews, compensation cycles, engagement initiatives, and HR communications
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, helping to simplify, automate, and standardize HR processes
  • Track HR process metrics (onboarding completion, data accuracy, SLAs)
  • Provide Tier 1 benefits administration support and vendor coordination
  • Support HR audits and compliance reporting (e.g., I-9, E-Verify, or international equivalents)
  • Assist with international mobility processes (visas, transfers, relocations)

Basic Qualifications: 

  • 3+ years of HR Generalist or HR Operations experience, preferably in a multi-region environment
  • Hands-on experience with UKG or a comparable HRIS platform
  • Experience with HireRight or similar background screening systems
  • Strong understanding of HR practices and compliance within Canada and global regions (EMEA, APAC, LATAM an asset)
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and data integrity
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks independently

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience working with U.S. HR operations, employment practices, or compliance processes
  • Experience supporting international employee populations or global mobility
  • Pilot or aviation enthusiast
