About Us
As part of a strategy to buy multiple property services businesses, we are taking ownership of a residential landscaping business in Etobicoke effective January 1, 2025. The company currently consists of a 12-person field team that serves mostly residential properties across Etobicoke and nearby neighbourhoods. We are a leading reputable landscaping company that has built a great customer base and employee relationships over 20 years.
The business offers a cross-section of services — including property maintenance, seasonal planting, softscape installations, select hardscape projects, and snow removal. We take pride in delivering reliable, high-quality service with a strong focus on client satisfaction, craftsmanship, and team culture.
We are on an ambitious journey to grow the company, and we are building a team of property services pros to make that happen. This leader will be a key part of our engine of growth and an important member of our leadership team.
Position Overview
The Operations Manager is a key role within our organization, and for the right individual, it includes a defined pathway to earning a minority ownership stake over time.
The Operations Manager is responsible for leading our maintenance and softscape installation crews, ensuring excellent service delivery, and supporting business growth through estimating and client relationship management. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who combines strong operational discipline with a customer-first mindset and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a growing business. This role will have the support of the two Owners as well as a Business Manager who will manage invoicing, bookkeeping, and general customer support.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Crew Oversight
· Plan, schedule, and supervise daily operations for multiple crews.
· Lead morning dispatches and end-of-day debriefs to ensure readiness and accountability.
· Conduct regular job site inspections to ensure quality, safety, and efficiency.
· Oversee vehicle, equipment, and material logistics.
· Track performance, productivity, and profitability across projects.
Team Leadership
· Recruit, train, and mentor crew leaders and team members.
· Foster a culture of professionalism, safety, and pride in workmanship.
· Provide regular feedback and performance reviews.
· Support seasonal staffing and training programs.
Client Relations
· Serve as the primary operational contact for key clients.
· Conduct property walkthroughs, discuss service plans, and ensure expectations are exceeded.
· Address client concerns promptly and professionally.
Estimating & Sales
· Prepare estimates for maintenance contracts, planting projects, and softscape enhancements.
· Collaborate with ownership on proposals, pricing, and service offerings.
· Assist in identifying and pursuing new client and upgrade opportunities.
· Participate in discussions and coordination related to hardscape construction projects when required.
Financial & Administrative
· Monitor job costing, crew efficiency, and gross margin performance.
· Support budgeting, forecasting, and workflow planning.
· Ensure compliance with all company policies and health & safety standards.
Qualifications
· 7+ years of experience in residential landscaping, including 2+ years in a supervisory or management role.
· Strong knowledge of horticulture, planting, and property maintenance practices.
· Proven ability to lead field teams and manage multiple client properties.
· Experience in estimating and managing small enhancement projects.
· Familiarity with hardscape installation (pavers, walls, grading, etc.) a strong asset.
· Proficiency in scheduling, estimating, and CRM software (e.g., LMN, Jobber, or equivalent).
· Valid G driver's license with clean record; DZ or equipment operation experience an asset.
