POSITION TITLE: Supported Rent Supplement Program Worker – Temporary 3 Months
CLASSIFICATION: Adult, Youth and/or Child Worker
PROGRAM: Supported Rent Supplement Program (SRSP)
REPORTS TO: Department Manager
JOB SUMMARY:
- The Supported Rent Supplement Program Worker will work directly with SRSP and potential SRSP clients enrolled in the program while providing ongoing support and case management for a designated caseload of clients.
- Meet with and advocate for potential SRSP clients at a Community table for admittance to the program.
- Assist clients with maintaining stable housing through rent supplement support and connect individuals and families with appropriate services and resources.
QUALIFICATIONS: The Supported Rent Supplement Program Worker will have:
- Diploma in related human/social service field and one year recent related experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE: The Supported Rent Supplement Program Worker will require:
- Excellent understanding of homelessness and contributing factors
- Excellent relationship skills with service recipients, staff, professionals and agency personnel
- Knowledge of the community, its systems and resources, particularly around housing availability
- Ability to work with people of diverse ages, cultures and personal situations, particularly aboriginal people
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and produce a variety of reports
- Demonstrated ability to conduct meetings in an organized and productive manner
- Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team
- Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organization, prioritization and motivation skills
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Computer literacy in Excel, Word and email programs
- Experience with BC Housing database systems
- Ability to work in crisis situations
- Strong case management and client advocacy skills
- Valid driver's license
- Respect and adherence to ethics and confidentiality
HOURS OF WORK: 35 hours per week, flexible to meet program needs
RATE OF PAY: $27.54/hr - Grid Level 11
