At Westek Truss Systems, a Truss Builder is a valuable team member responsible for building trusses to customer requirements by assembling pre-cut wood and/or metal pieces into the triangular structure of trusses. Using precision measurement and safety procedures when assembling. Utilizing tools such as pneumatic staple guns, tape measures, hammer and other required tools. A truss builder may also operate machinery like forklifts.

THE HUSTLE ENVIRONMENT

  • Shift rotation – 3 x 12 hour shifts/week
  • 12-hour shifts
  • Can be busy, high volume
  • Manufacturing environment – indoors/climate controlled
  • Working with and around lumber products
  • Working with tools
  • Physically demanding – lifting and stacking able to lift up to 70 lbs safely
  • Standing for extended periods/repetitive hammering

JOB TYPE

THESE ARE YOUR STRENGTHS

  • Read/follow assembly sheets
  • Gather correct material carts/verifying quantity
  • Select proper plates as per drawings as well as proper plate positioning
  • Assemble wood roof trusses per design specs
  • Follow safe work practices and all health, safety and Company policies
  • Use pneumatic tools

Plus – may perform other responsibilities as assigned

SUCCESS FACTORS

  • Highschool diploma – preferred
  • Skilled at operating a forklift - preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a truss assembler or construction labourer
  • Knowledge of woodworking/framing preferred/pneumatic tools
  • Ability to read assembly sheet
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self motivated
  • General labour/tasks

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: From $19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 36 per week
