Staff Accountant,

The Staff Accountant position will be responsible for full cycle accounting and preparation of monthly financial reporting.

The position will also be involved in all companies in the Dobson Group and a defined cross training program will be implemented on hire.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and complete bank reconciliations for multiple accounts.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and account analysis.
  • Support year-end preparation and provide necessary documentation preparation
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger records.
  • Prepare and review financial statements and management reports.
  • Process and manage accounts payable (A/P) and accounts receivable (A/R) transactions.
  • Monitor cash flow and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting as required.
  • Process Payroll
  • Prepare and remit all government taxes (HST, corporate, payroll, etc), ensuring compliance with regulations
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the finance department.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of accounting experience (experience in a multi-entity or dealership environment considered an asset).
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and standard accounting procedures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, PBS or similar ERP).
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
