Senior Industry Consultant, Energy

We are looking for a technical expert with deep experience in solution architecture and enterprise data challenges to join our remote/flexible, globally-dispersed Industry Solutions team.

The Industry Solutions team is the MongoDB expert community delivering thought leadership and practical direction in industry-specific data challenges. This involves generation and delivery of content (i.e. webinars, white papers, blogs, events, presentations, etc.) on industry-specific solutions, in this case the Energy industry. This also involves direct account engagement with the clients' senior executives, to help business leaders see the vision of how MongoDB is a solution for their industry's needs, wants, and pain points. These responsibilities require a solid mix of technical knowledge as well as people, presentation, and thought leadership skills.

Your objective is to align MongoDB as an industry solution and ensure we understand clients and their needs to develop modern solutions, modernize legacy software, transition to modern solutions, and guide them through continuous data-driven modernization.

This will require one to keep a finger on the pulse on the Energy industry worldwide of their most current and progressive innovations, trends, and needs.

You'll work closely with a broad variety of functions inside the whole company, ranging from product, partners, marketing and sales. You will play a key role in winning deals and driving the business forward and will be a trusted advisor to a wide range of clients from startups to the world's largest enterprise IT organizations.

This role will primarily focus on the North and Latin American market but you also support other regions such as Europe and Middle East (EMEA). As such, the location for this role is based in Toronto, Canada, and includes about 30% of traveling across the North American region and to some extent globally.

This role will be based remotely in Ontario.

As a candidate, you should have

• More than 5 years in the Energy Sector (Oil and Gas, Power or Renewables) directly or in a consultative form in multiple areas; candidates with less years of experience but with exceptional expertise can be considered accordingly
• Deep expertise in technical architecture, solution design, and delivering complex technical solutions at scale
• Excellent presentation and communication skills with the ability to visualize and communicate complex information to all levels of an organization - both internally and externally
• Experience with scalable and highly available distributed systems
• Ability to discuss a broad range of data technologies (non-exhaustive list: RDBMS, document, key-value, unstructured, noSQL, JSON, WitsML/XML, OSDU,...)
• Deep expertise in technical architecture, solution design, and delivering complex technical solutions at scale.
• Strong English language skills

Ideally you would also have

• A Master's degree or higher in a relevant discipline
• Experience in addressing data related challenges in IoT, energy trading platforms, advanced data analytics, or similar specialized areas in the Energy sector
• Knowledge of latest innovations and emerging trends within the Energy sector
• Strong understanding of data modeling and data architecture principles for various use cases in the industry
• In-depth understanding of database schema design principles, and database programming
• Experience with definition of standards, participation in forums, councils, steering committees is a strong advantage
• A MongoDB certification or skill badge
• Conversational abilities in other languages are a plus, as you will be working globally

MongoDB's base salary range for this role is posted below. Compensation at the time of offer is unique to each candidate and based on a variety of factors such as skill set, experience, qualifications, and work location. Salary is one part of MongoDB's total compensation and benefits package. MongoDB's base salary range for this role in Canada is:

$130,000—$180,000 CAD
