Claims Representative

Cowan Insurance Group is looking for a Claims Representative to join our Claims team This role is reporting to the Manager, Claims. The successful candidate will be responsible for the reporting, management, and resolution of new and existing property, auto and liability claims for clients. You are knowledgeable in the insurance industry with policies, products and customer service.

What you will do:

• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the claims process, ensuring timely and professional communication.
• Provide exceptional customer service to clients via phone queue and online reports
• Review policy coverage, proficiently explain the claims process and set customer expectations
• Have regular contact with the customer and insurer to ensure specific milestones are met throughout the claim
• Advocate for customers when claims issues arise, challenging the insurer on coverage decisions when necessary
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the claims management system
• Collaborate with internal teams, including account managers and service members

What you will bring:

• A minimum of 1 - 2 years of experience in insurance, preferably with a claims and customer service background would be an asset.
• Knowledge of Personal and/or Commercial Property, Auto & Liability policies would be an asset.
• Ability to interpret policy wordings and explain in a clear and concise manner to clients.
• Excellent organizational, negotiation, analytical and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications with strong data entry expertise.
• Collaborative team player with excellent communication abilities and a professional demeanor.
• Self-starter with ability to multi-task and prioritize competing demands.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
• RIBO License would be asset or the ability to obtain.
• CAIB or CIP designation (or working towards) would be an asset.
• Minimum High school diploma or equivalent required
