Position Overview

This role involves supporting a wide range of construction, masonry, and restoration tasks across residential and commercial projects. The ideal candidate is hardworking, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining NR Builds' standards of safety, quality, and professionalism.

General Labourers play a crucial role in keeping job sites organized, assisting skilled trades, and ensuring projects run smoothly from start to finish.

Primary ResponsibilitiesSite Preparation & Cleanup

• Set up and organize job sites before work begins
• Load/unload tools, materials, and equipment
• Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment throughout the day
• End-of-day cleanup and job site securing

Tool & Equipment Handling

• Safely operate hand tools and power tools (grinders, drills, saws, compactors, mixers, etc.)
• Assist with the setup and maintenance of equipment
• Report any damaged tools or unsafe equipment immediately

Construction & Masonry Support

• Assist masons with installing brick, block, stone, and concrete products
• Mix mortar, concrete, and other materials
• Perform tasks such as cutting, grinding, parging, joint filling, and surface prep
• Help with scaffold setup and takedown under supervision

Restoration & Repair Work

• Apply caulking, sealants, coatings, and patching materials
• Perform grinding, cleaning, and prepping surfaces for repairs
• Support tuckpointing, waterproofing, and masonry restoration tasks

General Renovation Assistance

• Assist with demolition, framing, drywall, insulation, finishes, painting, etc.
• Help move and position materials such as drywall, lumber, stone, and concrete bags

Documentation & Communication

• Follow direction from supervisors and project managers precisely
• Communicate job progress, issues, or delays clearly and promptly
• Read and follow basic blueprints, measurements, and work orders

Safety & Professionalism

• Adhere to all NR Builds safety protocols and PPE requirements
• Participate in toolbox talks and safety meetings
• Report hazards immediately and practice safe work habits at all times
• Maintain respectful behavior with clients, neighbours, and team members
• Represent NR Builds professionally while on and off job sites

Skills & QualificationsRequired

• Comfortable using a wide range of hand tools and power tools
• Strong physical stamina; able to lift 50–80 lbs regularly
• Able to work outdoors in various weather conditions
• Good communication skills and the ability to take direction
• Reliable transportation to job sites across the GTA
• Punctual, professional, and committed to delivering quality work

Preferred

• 1–2 years of experience in construction, masonry, concrete, or restoration
• Ability to read drawings, measurements, and simple blueprints
• Experience operating equipment such as skid steers, mini-excavators, or compactors
• Valid Working at Heights or WHMIS certification (company can provide training)

• Professional Conduct: No smoking on job sites, no profanity, no unprofessional behaviour around clients.
• Phone Use: Limited strictly to breaks unless needed for job-related communication.
• Daily Responsibilities: Each worker is responsible for having their own PPE, keeping the site clean, and maintaining tool organization.
• Respect for Tools: All NR Builds tools must be used properly, cleaned, and returned to designated areas.
• Team Collaboration: Labourers must support masons, lead hands, and supervisors as needed to ensure smooth operations.
• Quality Work: Tasks must be completed accurately, safely, and to NR Builds quality standards.
• Growth Mindset: Workers are encouraged to learn new skills, ask questions, and develop into more advanced roles within the company.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
