Simpson's Fence (London) Ltd is seeking an experienced Shop Service/Maintenance Technician for full time employment at our London facility. The successful candidate will have experience and practical working knowledge with vehicle / heavy equipment / trailer maintenance and minor repairs in a commercial environment. This position will operate mainly from our shop in south London, with occasional work onsite as needed (eg emergency repairs of deployed vehicles / equipment) . Full-time days (Mon-Fri) with occasional overtime. Main Duties:

  • Perform maintenance / minor repairs on vehicles / heavy equipment / trailers as needed.
  • Visually inspects equipment during lubrication and reports on check sheets.
  • Performs minor mechanical repairs as required.
  • Moves vehicles and equipment to and from our facility to other locations as required (for repairs/services/safety inspections etc).
  • Perform various facility maintenance tasks / minor repairs as needed.
  • Maintain a safe, organized and clean work area.
  • Prepare and maintain written work records, such as time sheets and PM inspection reports.
  • Clean and inspect shop equipment, safety equipment and tools as required.
  • Perform related duties which are transient, or of an emergency nature, or which are minor; but recurring.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a commercial vehicle / equipment maintenance environment
  • Experience and working knowledge of maintenance & minor repairs to gas & diesel - powered cars / trucks / heavy equipment (skid steers / forklift etc)
  • Experience and working knowledge of small engine maintenance & minor repairs (generators, chain saws etc)
  • Experience and working knowledge of maintenance & minor repairs to commercial trailers
  • Experience with basic facility maintenance/repair duties
  • Good mechanical aptitude and trouble-shooting skills
  • Able to understand and maintain accurate reporting & record-keeping such as vehicle registrations, maintenance reports, shop manuals, and repair request tickets.
  • Valid Drivers License
  • Bondable

Optional Qualifications

  • Welding / fabricating experience would be a bonus but not mandatory

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $30.00-$35.00 per hour
