Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Dry Cleaner with at least 2 years' hands-on experience in the dry cleaning / textile care industry. The ideal candidate will be adept at operating dry cleaning machinery, identifying and treating stains, finishing garments via pressing and steaming, and ensuring that all items meet our strict quality standards before returning them to customers.
You will play an essential role in processing incoming orders, maintaining workflow efficiency, safeguarding equipment, and delivering a seamless, high-quality customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, and tag garments; examine for stains, damage, or special care instructions
- Operate dry cleaning machines, washers, dryers, extractors, and related equipment
- Perform stain removal, spot treatment, soaking, bleaching, and pre-treatment for delicate or specialty fabrics
- Press, iron, steam, finish, fold, bag or hanger garments, ensuring "pressed to spec" standards
- Match garment care labels / fabric types to appropriate cleaning methods and solvents
- Monitor and adjust chemical mixtures (solvents, detergents, neutralizers, spotting agents)
- Maintain equipment: clean filters, perform routine maintenance, notify tech services for repairs
- Conduct quality control inspections — identify and rework defective items
- Assemble, package, and prepare orders for customer pick-up or delivery
- Maintain accurate order records, logs, and tracking via POS / workflow software
- Uphold safety protocols in handling chemicals, solvents, and machinery
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment (workstations, racks, pressing area)
- Assist in training junior or new staff (as needed)
- Occasionally assist with customer drop-off / pick-up, respond to inquiries
- Comply with environmental, health, and safety regulations and company policies
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of experience in dry cleaning / textile care / garment finishing roles
- Strong understanding of textile fibers, fabric blends, and how different fabrics react to solvents, water, heat, and detergents
- Proven ability in spot and stain removal (oil, ink, wine, etc.)
- Proficiency with dry cleaning machinery, pressing equipment, steamers, extractors
- Mechanical aptitude: ability to perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot machine issues
- Excellent attention to detail, with a commitment to quality and consistency
- Good time management, able to handle multiple orders simultaneously
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Basic computer / POS / order tracking system familiarity
- Physical stamina: ability to stand for long shifts, lift and move garments / racks (often 25-50 lb), bend, stretch
- Knowledge of health & safety practices, chemical handling, and solvent safety
- Reliable, punctual, and able to follow standard operating procedures
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends or overtime as needed
Preferred / Desirable
- Coursework or experience in textile care, dry cleaning operation, or garment finishing
- Experience with leather, suede, fur, or delicate fabrics
- Familiarity with eco-friendly / green cleaning processes
- Leadership or mentorship experience
- Experience in high-volume or commercial / institutional laundry settings
