The Opportunity

Mawer Investment Management is hiring for the position of trader/analyst within its expanding fixed income group. We look for self-motivated individuals willing and able to enhance our processes, strengthen our culture, and help build Mawer into one of the best global investment management firms.

Role Responsibilities

• Work with our head trader to oversee the day-to-day trading of the firm's fixed income assets: Primary execution for the Canadian Money Market, FX spot/forwards, Futures; Secondary execution of Canadian and global bonds; Over time become primary execution for rates strategies/shifts (Federal, Provincial, Derivatives)
• Daily portfolio monitoring and adjustment
• Liaise with our investment operations team to ensure timely settlement of fixed income related products
• Work with the Rates/Macro team to develop interest rate trading strategies (using both macro and market data)
• Work with Rates/Macro team to develop portfolio construction tools/security level screens (Provincial and Federal securities)
• Participate in the economic outlook by bringing a market perspective to the discussions

Desired Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in capital markets, preferably on the fixed income/derivatives side
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in any discipline
• Strong technical/programming skills (python, SQL, AI tools) considered an asset
• Knowledge of electronic trading platforms: Bloomberg, CanDeal, MarketAccess is considered an asset
• Strong work ethic and a demonstrated track record of excellence and commitment to achieve meaningful results
