What We Do

Sistering's programs include a low-barrier 24/7 Drop In, Housing and Case Support, Harm Reduction, Peer Outreach, On the Path to Employment and Spun Studio social enterprise, and individual and systemic advocacy.

Sistering operates on a trauma-informed and relationship-based model and our harm reduction philosophy is a core element of all the work we do: we are here to respond to participants' needs, where they are at, in the moment, to support participants to learn how to reduce harm and/or increase safety. In addition, we recognize that their lives have meaning and value.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Sistering is seeking a dynamic and experienced Program Manager to lead and oversee our Drop-In, Case Support and Harm Reduction programs, and other services. This leadership role is responsible for staff management, service coordination, integration, and continuous improvement, and program development. The Program Manager will also provide clinical supervision, participate in community advocacy efforts, and contribute to planning and implementation.

The successful candidate brings a deep commitment to supporting homeless and marginalized women and transgender people along with strong leadership, administrative, and case management expertise.

This role involves leadership, administration, and service-focused and will require some on-the-ground support within the programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Staff Management& Leadership:

  • Manage and support Drop-In & Case Support Supervisors and front-line program staff
  • Provide staff with clinical supervision, debriefing, and capacity-building
  • Oversee and guide case management practices, crisis intervention, and client support
  • Support staff and volunteers in their engagement with participants, including peer workers and placement students
  • Lead training, onboarding, and performance development in collaboration with the Director of Programs & Services
  • Support staff development and continuous improvement of service quality through training, coaching, work-planning and follow up.
  • Ensure compliance with policies and address issues as needed
  • Foster a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative work environment. Address issues and resolve conflicts as needed.

Program & Administrative Management:

  • Collaborate on policy and process design and implementation, program development, and budget planning
  • Ensure programs are culturally responsive and meet the needs of diverse communities.
  • Maintain oversight of program statistics, reports, and evaluation tools
  • Ensure accurate and timely shift, case, and incident documentation, OCANs, and Coordinated Care Plans
  • Develop internal systems for consistent service delivery and reporting Ensure compliance with relevant service standards and regulatory requirements
  • Contribute to cross-program integration and seamless participant support
  • Continuously improve programs and services using evaluation, review, redesign, and change management techniques.

Advocacy and Community Building:

  • Develop and maintain professional relationships, collaborations, and partnerships with partners in the sector and in the community and with funders
  • Engage in and support advocacy to address systemic issues of homelessness, poverty, and marginalization  Support staff in developing critical analyses of social issues and advocacy approaches
  • Collaborate with service users to identify priorities and strategies for social change

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) or a relevant equivalent required; Master of Social Work (MSW) or a relevant equivalent preferred
  • 5 years of leadership, management, and supervision experience (10+ staff preferred)
  • Experience providing clinical supervision in trauma-informed, harm reduction environments
  • Proven experience working with women and transgender people with complex needs, including homelessness, mental health, substance use, and trauma
  • Experience in peer-led programming and participant advocacy

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of anti-oppression, trauma-informed, harm reduction, and low-barrier approachesExcellent interpersonal and team leadership skills
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Working knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g., ESA, OHSA, AODA, Ontario Human Rights Code, Residential Tenancies Act, WSIB)
  • Strong organizational, budget management, and reporting capabilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with CRMS or similar case management systems

COMPENSATION:

  • $67,000 - $72,000 annually

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The manager in this position works in the office and community. Sistering is a 24/7 operation, fast paced, intense environment.
