As a Casual Clerical, you will work in an office administrative role. You will be on-call in short-term and long-term assignments at multiple schools or administrative buildings throughout the diverse communities of Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board including Hamilton Mountain, Hamilton Downtown, Waterdown, Flamborough, Dundas, Ancaster, Mount Hope, Binbrook, Stoney Creek and Winona.

You could work in: School-Based Office Administration, Departmental Administrative Support, Instructional Technology (IT), Facility Services, Human Resource Services and Staff Well-Being, Business Services, Research and Analytics, Library Technicians.

The Role
Responsibilities
This position will be assigned to elementary and secondary schools, and administration offices for replacement clerical coverage or special projects. Responsibilities typically include:

  • Respond to inquiries and emergent issues.
  • Use of a variety of computer software and programs (Microsoft Suites, Outlook, Student Information Systems, Financial Information Systems).
  • Provide professional student, staff, and community support.
  • Provide administrative/clerical support.
  • Accurate data entry.
  • Work in a multi-disciplinary team environment.

Education, Experience & Skills

  • Minimum of secondary school diploma or equivalent.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Capacity to engage with diverse communities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good organizational skills combined with the ability to identify priorities and produce timely accurate work.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to emergent situations.
  • Knowledge of school office operations and procedures.
  • Maturity in dealing with confidential information.
  • Reliable transportation, which includes, but is not limited to, access to a bus route, is essential.
