As Payroll Specialist, a typical day might include the following:
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of bi-weekly payroll for both salaried and hourly employees for 2 dealership stores
- Handle all employee payroll-related inquiries with professionalism and efficiency
- Process monthly bonus and commission payments
- Prepare and file year-end payroll documentation, including T4, T4A, T5, T5018, and other required forms
- Reconcile payrolls in alignment with the year-end calendar
- Calculate and submit WSIB remittances within established deadlines
- Administer garnishment orders, Employment Insurance (EI) claims, and correspondence with government agencies
- Prepare and issue Records of Employment (ROEs) as needed
- Coordinate timely and accurate enrollment and updates to employee benefit plans
- Support the onboarding process for new hires
- Prepare and calculate year end EHT and WSIB reconciliations
- Review update and reconcile all benefits costs
- Administer group benefit plan
- Post all payrolls and payroll accruals
- Provide general support to the accounting team across a range of tasks
- Perform other related duties as assigned
This job might be right for you if:
- Minimum of five years of relevant experience
- Proficient in Reynolds and ADP Workforce software
- Prior experience working in an automotive dealership environment
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Payroll, or a related field
- Solid understanding of Employment Standards Act (ESA) regulations
- PCP designation required
- Excellent time management and organizational abilities
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including , Excel, and Word
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and solve problems effectively
- Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
