The Repair and Maintenance Manager plays a key role in delivering an outstanding member experience across all locations. In this role, you will oversee and support a team of R&M Technicians, guiding their daily work, priorities, and development. You'll ensure our gyms are clean, safe, and fully operational so members can focus on achieving their fitness goals. You'll take a proactive approach to equipment care, facility upkeep, and maintenance planning, while also supporting vendor coordination and improvement initiatives. This is a hands-on, solutions-focused role where your work has a visible and meaningful impact every day—helping our teams perform at their best and our members feel proud to be part of Fitness World.

Core Responsibilities

  • Improve member satisfaction through the leadership and management of the repairs and maintenance team.
  • Ensure all equipment is operational and the efficient, timely and proactive repair of equipment and facilities.
  • Implement and monitor a preventive maintenance program for the equipment and facilities.
  • Manage and audit the R&M software system to ensure accurate reporting and task tracking.
  • Order, organize, and manage parts and handle the repair tickets in maintenance system.
  • Prepare documents to put out to tender for 3rd party contract work; manage and supervise work of contractors and ensure work is completed as required.
  • Calculate and compare costs for goods/service to achieve a return on investment.
  • Approve invoices and create purchase orders.
  • Coordinate and direct essential central services such as maintenance, security, recycling and waste disposal.
  • Conduct routine safety, cleanliness, and equipment inspections; ensure compliance with health, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Organize and optimize equipment placement and storage to ensure safety and operational efficiency.
  • Train and support on-site staff and managers on facility standards, maintenance processes, and safe equipment handling.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to facility emergencies or urgent maintenance requests.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education & Qualifications

  • 3–10 years of experience in facility maintenance or building operations; multi-site or high-traffic environment experience preferred.
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively with other employees, our members, and guests
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in fitness, hospitality, commercial retail, or recreation environments is an asset.
  • Proficient in computer systems and maintenance management software.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs.

Preferred (Not Required):

  • Familiarity with HVAC, electrical, or mechanical equipment systems.
  • Facilities or maintenance certifications (e.g., FMP, CMM, CWFP).
