Title: Nurse in Charge

Salary: $97,833 – $122,817 per year (pay range explained below)

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Part-time, 0.5 FTE

Location: Tsay Keh Dene, Northern BC

Bargaining Unit: PIPSC BCFNHA Group (Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada)

About the role

As Nurse in Charge, you will – provide leadership of a comprehensive range of core nursing functions and services within a First Nations community in program areas of community and/or public health, primary care, and home care through promotion and maintenance of the health of individuals, family groups, communities, and populations that value the principles of primary health care and focus on promoting health, preventing disease and injury, protecting population health, as well as a focus on curative, urgent and emergent care, rehabilitation, and supportive or palliative care. You will provide professional guidance and assistance to community leaders and other community health care team members in acquiring the knowledge and skills necessary for First Nations partners and communities.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have/be –

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing from a recognized university or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Successful completion of approved training in public health nursing or approved training in obstetrics, mental health, or some other specialty.
  • Two (2) years of nursing experience.
  • Current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNM).
  • Requires a valid Class 5 BC Driver's License
  • Nurse In Charge, Remote must be remote certified (RNC) with BCCNM.
  • Knowledge of, and ability to apply, an understanding of First Nations cultural principles and protocols in work situations.
  • Knowledge and the application of concepts, principles, and theories of trans-cultural nursing, including knowledge of traditional, homeopathic or other healing practices used in the community.
