Construction Safety Officer – Onsite | Sweetgrass, Saskatchewan

We are currently seeking an experienced Construction Safety Officer to join our team for a project located in Sweetgrass, SK. This is a fully onsite position, supporting all field operations and ensuring our teams work safely and in compliance with company and client safety programs.

About the Role

The Safety Officer will play a key role in promoting a positive safety culture on site and ensuring compliance with Occupational Health and Safety legislation, company policies, and client expectations. The successful candidate will work closely with site management and supervision to support safe work practices, conduct inspections, and assist with incident investigations and documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and enforce compliance with safety standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Conduct site inspections, hazard assessments, and toolbox talks.
  • Assist supervisors with job hazard analysis and pre-task planning.
  • Participate in incident investigations and track corrective actions.
  • Support new worker orientations and maintain accurate safety documentation.
  • Ensure all employees and subcontractors are adhering to safety regulations.
  • Coordinate and track worker training, certifications, and safety statistics.
  • Communicate proactively with site leadership to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.

Qualifications

  • NCSO designation strongly preferred (or equivalent safety certification).
  • Minimum 3 years of safety experience in construction or industrial environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of OHS legislation and safe work practices.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License and clean driver's abstract.
  • Intermediate First Aid and other relevant safety training are considered assets.

Work Conditions

  • Onsite, full-time position – camp accommodations may be available depending on project phase.
  • Must be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Overtime and weekend work may be required based on project needs.
