We are looking for a Commercial Underwriting Assistant to join our team in our Vancouver office
As a Commercial Underwriting Assistant, you will be responsible in supporting the Underwriters in their day-to-day tasks. If you are career-minded and looking for a dynamic work environment with a growth mindset, you will love working among our team
Your day as an Underwriting Assistant:
- Process and issue documents as instructed by Underwriters and Managers.
- Issue and send Insurance Policies and Endorsements.
- Work with brokers and underwriters to maintain policy files, handling inquiries, policy changes, application requests, follow-ups, and other related tasks.
- Meet service standards and turnaround times for the issuance of documents.
- Produce and distribute correspondence, including memos, letters, faxes, and forms.
- Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Process monthly Lineage, premium, and claims bordereaux, including reconciliation.
- Obtain underwriting information from brokers and claims history from the claims department.
- Assist with accounts receivable (A/R) processes.
- Prepare data and documentation for various reports required by London for contract renewals and audits.
- Set up, re-create, and edit policy wordings.
- Support Managers and Underwriters with general administrative tasks.
- Perform other general office duties as required.
Our Ideal Candidate
- Have 1–2 years of administrative and/or customer service experience.
- Demonstrate excellent organizational skills and effective stress management.
- Show reliability and the ability to earn the trust and respect of colleagues.
- Exhibit enthusiasm and a desire to take on new challenges daily.
- Work independently, collaboratively, and effectively as part of a team.
- Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Communicate clearly and professionally in both French and English, verbally and in writing.
- Possess a basic understanding of the insurance industry (considered an asset).
- Have insurance knowledge or experience (preferred).
- Maintain strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Interact with customers and colleagues in a professional, positive, and courteous manner.
- Perform effectively in a fast-paced environment and remain calm under pressure.
- Act as a team player who adapts easily to change.
- Present a personable, energetic, and proactive attitude.
The expected salary for this role ranges from $55,000 to $70,000. Annual salary will be determined by factors including prior experience, location, business segment, and relevance of the candidate's skills to the role.
