DISPATCHER

Canada is seeking a qualified individual to join our energetic and thriving team located in Port Coquitlam, BC. The shift will be Tuesday to Saturday.

The Dispatcher is responsible for tasks such as order entry, answering the telephone, providing exceptional customer service, problem solving service issues with operations and drivers, giving drivers direction and support and working with the management team to help grow our Dispatch Department and its processes and standards.

The successful candidate will have at least 2 years of prior dispatch, data entry, and order desk experience preferably in a waste management environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Respond to customer/general public/drivers inquiries via e-mail, phone calls.
  • Handling incoming calls and e-mails from Operations, Customer Service, Drivers and Sales department.
  • Dispatch drivers using information of customer needs, driver's locations and loads, and daily factors to optimize routes, balance cost and efficiency.
  • Assist in assigning routes and work orders to appropriate drivers throughout the day and for the next day.
  • working with operations to sequences and organizes routes.
  • Follow up with customer if more customer details are required, to advise on service changes or same day route changes.
  • Initiate outbound calls to customers while drivers are on-site, resolving pick-up and other issues. Use close loop communication process to inform internal and external customers of root cause and resolution.
  • Proactively troubleshoot and resolve potential delivery and service issues before they result in service interruptions.
  • Communicating with Operations Supervisor throughout the day and serve as an emergency point of contact for drivers with mechanical break downs, service issues, etc…
  • Processing customer orders, deposits, and invoices.

Key Skills/Knowledge and Experience:

  • High School Diploma
  • Ideally 2-4 years of experience in a dispatch and/or customer service role
  • Proficient in the English language both written and verbal is necessary; proficiency in another language is an asset.
  • Must have very strong customer service and data entry skills.
  • Professional telephone skills and mannerisms.
  • Knowledge of Google Workspace Applications; Gmail, Docs, and Sheets.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work under tight time constraints.
  • Ability to work in a team setting.
  • Dependable and available for flexible working hours.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28.00-$30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
