We are seeking an experienced and motivated Door-to-Door Sales Manager to lead and inspire our sales team in a fast-paced, direct-selling environment. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with a proven track record in team management, sales strategy, and performance optimization. This role is responsible for overseeing daily operations, recruiting and training team members, driving sales targets, and fostering a high-energy, goal-oriented culture.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership
- Lead and support the daily operations of the door-to-door sales team.
- Develop and execute annual, monthly, and weekly action plans to achieve company goals.
- Build strong relationships with team members and ensure consistent follow-up on key initiatives.
- Take full accountability for team performance and hold team members accountable for results.
- Participate in quarterly meetings, strategic planning, and company events to align departmental goals.
Sales Management
- Define clear sales objectives and performance expectations for the team.
- Monitor daily metrics and dashboards to identify improvement opportunities.
- Plan and assign turf in advance, ensuring optimal team coverage.
- Conduct daily huddles, one-on-one meetings, and end-of-day wrap-ups to review goals and progress.
- Deliver engaging daily sales training focused on product knowledge and sales techniques.
- Resolve conflicts promptly and professionally while maintaining team morale.
- Develop succession plans and train backup personnel for continuity.
Sales Team Development
- Identify skill gaps and implement targeted training and coaching programs.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
- Participate in field activities ("joint knocks") to support and coach team members.
- Monitor leads, estimates, and overall results to improve conversion rates and team efficiency.
- Keep the team productive during downtime with proactive activities such as follow-up calls or prospecting.
Performance Tracking
- Track and analyze sales performance, providing regular reports to senior management.
- Identify key trends, challenges, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Evaluate team results against KPIs and sales objectives.
Sales & Business Development
- Develop and implement effective sales processes for lead generation and conversion.
- Serve as the corporate sales representative as needed, managing key accounts.
- Identify new business opportunities and implement strategies for growth.
- Oversee the preparation of quotes, proposals, and client presentations.
- Review lost opportunities and apply lessons learned to future efforts.
- Manage client relationships, addressing escalations and ensuring satisfaction.
Human Resources
- Recruit, hire, and onboard new team members to build a high-performing sales team.
- Lead by example, fostering collaboration, accountability, and professional growth.
- Conduct performance reviews, and handle disciplinary actions and terminations as required.
- Coordinate closely with HR and senior management on staffing and development needs.
Marketing Support
- Collaborate with the marketing team to support promotional activities and campaigns.
- Ensure marketing materials, direct mail, and territory preparation are completed before door-knocking campaigns.
General Responsibilities
- Maintain and enforce standard operating procedures and documentation.
- Spend the majority of work time in the field with the sales team.
- Conduct regular planning, review, and improvement meetings using CRM tools and planning documents.
- Align efforts with marketing, product, and customer service teams.
- Continuously seek self-improvement through reading, training, and attending workshops.
- Research market trends, competitor strategies, and customer insights.
- Oversee and optimize CRM and other sales-related software tools.
- Support seasonal sales efforts, such as Christmas light sales, during off-peak periods.
- Foster a positive, high-energy sales culture that promotes teamwork and accountability.
Qualifications
Education:
- Post-secondary education in Business, Marketing, Management, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent, relevant industry experience will be considered.
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of leadership experience managing door-to-door (D2D) sales teams.
- At least 3 years of sales or marketing experience in a small business or high-growth environment.
- Demonstrated success in building teams and achieving sales targets.
- Proven ability to implement and improve sales systems, processes, and procedures.
- Experience in construction, landscaping, or home improvement industries is an asset.
