Job Title: Application Administrator, Senior (Operations)

Job Summary 

The Senior Application Administrator (OPS) is responsible for first-level support of all assigned applications. This position will serve as a subject matter expert on content, processes, and procedures associated with enterprise applications using various programs as necessary based on the given scope of work such as IFS, IFS Cloud, ServiceNow, EDI, in-house developed applications such as LinScan or externally purchased applications (Product Labelling System, etc.) used by all Linamar facilities associated with the main ERP (IFS) application .  On occasions and based on business requirements, may assist in the testing of certain pre-defined process by ERP and/or other IT Support Teams that they are working on.   

Responsibility  

  • Maintain critical processes and provide first-tier support for existing IFS (Industrial and Financial System) ERP application, and other related in-house developed applications such as LinScan, Loftware (Spectrum) Labelling, Printer Setups,etc.  
  • Address and resolve issues and concerns of end-users related to IFS functionality and modular processes pre-dominantly in Operations, but general knowledge of Finance processes is added asset aided by centrally-controlled work instructions and other written company policies and controls in place globally. 
  • Train, mentor and provide leadership / guidance to both Junior and Intermediate Application Administrators.  
  • Work with all members of the IT team to increase the number of first-call resolutions and improve overall customer satisfaction.  
  • Perform application administration, such as reviewing, validating against Global Security and Control Policies and Standards for granting and/or terminating User Access rights as part of user access deactivation, reset passwords as applicable, etc.  
  • Assist in the planning, design, development, and deployment of enhancements to existing applications appertaining IFS Support. 
  •  Liaise with vendors as needed to provide an additional level of support to the application users, and for managing modifications to the applications.  
  • Work with the - various teams to develop, coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for system modifications where applicable.  
  • Create and maintain effective system documentation.  
  • Assist in the orientation and training -of end-users for all modified and new systems or enhanced systems pertaining to the main ERP (IFS, IFS Cloud) system in use. 
  • Choose appropriate methods to rectify software errors and malfunctions. When encountering unexpected computer system failures and equipment breakdowns, identify defects and bugs through analyses of process variables and transaction logs.     
  • Work as member of team and coordinate efforts with programmers, other administrators and developers to develop, test and implement database system components in accordance with policies and standards. 
  • Continuously learn and update technical skills and knowledge by attending training sessions, university and technical college courses and sometimes participate in conferences organized by professional associations.
  • Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.  
  • Extract data from the system and prepare reports for end-users and management, where applicable.

Academic/Educational Requirements 

  • University degree in the field of materials management, management information systems or business administration.  
  •  PMAC, CPP, CPM, would be an asset. 

 Required Skills/Experience 

  • Minimum of six years of work experience in application support, materials management role in an Automotive or Manufacturing industry preferred. General knowledge of finance, accounting, management information systems an asset.  
  • Actual hands-on support experience on any ERP Applications such as IFS, IFS Cloud, etc. 
  • General IT knowledge and a good understanding of data extraction and reporting tools such as SQL and Crystal Reports are an asset. 
  • Good knowledge of databases. 
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint. 
  • Able to communicate on a technical and non-technical level depending on the audience.
  • Ability to work as a team member and to coordinate efforts with programmers, other administrators and developers.
  • Critical thinking, analysis and problem-solving. 
  • Thorough, diligent and resourceful. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are a necessity. 
  • Able to problem-solve and troubleshoot in a fast-paced and demanding environment. 
  • Flexible and adaptable; proactive and positive disposition.
