The Opportunity

Currently, we are seeking a Process Engineer to add to our team in  Woodbridge, ON. Join a team of Process Engineers in the design and implementation of projects in the Food and Beverage Industry.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, design, and implement cost savings initiatives, including energy and utility audits

• Perform feasibility studies and process designs for new product launches, facility upgrades and process improvements

• Frequent application of engineering fundamentals namely in the areas of bulk powder and dry ingredient handling, fluid dynamics, heat transfer and thermodynamics

• Perform field measurements to quantify design requirements.

• Research and apply relevant codes and regulations.

• Compose reports on recommendations to improve processes.

• Identify all equipment capabilities, utility & infrastructure requirements, and develops Process Flow Diagrams and layout concepts.

• Manage and drive design teams and coordinate with other engineering disciplines and vendors

• Compose control narratives to assist in programming of processes as per customer requirements.

• Provide contractor field support and regularly inspect installation activities at client sites to ensure proper installation of all intended project designs.

• Regularly inspect that contractors appropriately manage adherence to client safety measures.

• Commission systems by testing and troubleshooting processes in the field; If required, work with vender technicians to remediate issues

• Regularly complete continuing education engineering and technical courses to further develop subject matter expertise.

• Develop and update project requirements and specifications.

• Assist in the development of bills of materials.

• Conduct client site visits and inspections and prepare necessary written reports or updates.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering

• 3+ years process design experience in the beverage, dairy, food and pet food industries

• Very strong technical skills

• Follows Engineering Best Practices

• Working knowledge of CFIA, FDA and USDA food equipment and design standards

• Understanding food plant Good Manufacturing Processes (GMPs), area designations, clean design requirements and the impact to process and equipment layout designs

• Proficient with Microsoft Office

• Well organized, detail oriented, self-motivated capable of working collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills

• Able to work flexible hours, weekends if required to effectively manage multiple priorities within tight deadlines.

• A valid driver's license - travel maybe required to support and service our clients at their premises.

• A valid passport

• Professional Engineer designation is an asset.
