About this opportunity:

Reporting to the Director, Operations Support, the Senior Manager, Process Safety Implementation is accountable for overseeing Process Safety systems within Canadian Thermal & Conventional Heavy Oil (CTCHO). This role will lead a team of technical specialists, drive the implementation of key safety processes and tools, and foster cross-functional collaboration to embed a strong safety culture across operations.

What you'll do:

  • Lead the assurance and verification of the performance of process safety activities, supporting process safety incident investigations.
  • Oversee CTCHO's risk assessment and hazard study program, including facility revalidations, HAZID/Bow-tie/siting studies, PHA support, and training for all risk-assessment tool users.
  • Lead CTCHO's Risk Management, PSI, and MOC governance while coordinating with corporate Process Safety teams and securing specialized technical support to ensure full COIMS compliance.
  • Lead Competency Management for CTCHO Process Safety Engineers, facilitators, and practitioners.
  • Provide monthly verification and barrier-health reporting and present Process Safety dashboards and program updates to Upstream leadership.
  • Support the development, implementation, and adoption of Process Safety tools and systems across diverse operational teams, ensuring alignment with business priorities and corporate standards.

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada.
  • Minimum 12 years of experience as a technical leader, mentoring and leading other technical practitioners.
  • Expertise in Process Safety, including in facility design reviews, risk assessment and assurance activities, and corporate COIMS standards.
  • Functional understanding of oil and gas facility operations as a basis to understand and collaborate with functional teams.
  • Ability to adapt complex safety standards and systems into fit-for-purpose tools and solutions that support the accountabilities of the business unit and needs of front-line users.
