Pacekids Programs is a dynamic, family-centered organization that empowers children with diverse needs and their families through excellence in therapy, education, and play. Each year, we support over 500 children through inclusive, community-based programming that fosters development, connection, and confidence.
Are you a passionate and client-centered professional looking to make a real difference? We're seeking an Occupational Therapist to join our interdisciplinary team. This vital role delivers therapeutic supports that promote children's independence, skill development, and overall well-being — at home, at school, and in the community.
We are hiring for a flexible FTE ranging from 0.5 to 1.0 FTE depending on candidate availability, with opportunities to work across multiple Pacekids programs including Early Childhood Services (ECS), Community-Inclusive Hours (CIH), and Trellis programming.
This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, brings creativity and compassion to their work, and is dedicated to supporting children and families in achieving meaningful outcomes.
What You'll Do:
- Develop and coach occupational therapy programming in classroom, home, and community settings
- Coach and consult with families to provide strategies that promote development and independence in activities of daily living (e.g., dressing, feeding, toileting, grooming, fine motor skills, sensory processing)
- Conduct screenings and assessments (formal and informal) of preschool and school-aged children to support program-specific needs
- Develop, monitor, and update individualized goals (IPP/SPPP/ISP) in collaboration with families and interdisciplinary teams
- Participate in team and family meetings to ensure holistic support and progress tracking
- Provide transition and summary reports; maintain documentation to meet Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT) and Pacekids standards
- Meet all documentation, hour tracking, and billing deadlines as applicable
- Educate and train Pacekids staff to enhance therapy-informed programming
- Contribute to a positive, respectful, and inclusive workplace culture in line with Pacekids' values
What You Bring:
- Master's degree in Occupational Therapy (or equivalent)
- Registered member in good standing with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT)
- Professional liability insurance (current and updated annually)
- Current Alberta driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle for community work
- Clearance from a Criminal Record Check (including Vulnerable Sector) and Child Intervention Record Check, current within 6 months
- Proficiency in English (written and verbal)
- Experience supporting preschool and school-aged children
- Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with clients, families, and colleagues
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet diverse needs and abilities
Location & Schedule:
- Based out of Pacekids' new Sunridge location, south location, and in the community as needed
- Flexible FTE available (0.5 to 1.0 FTE depending on candidate availability)
- Monday to Friday (schedule flexibility as needed based on operational requirements)
- Paid mileage for community-based work
What We Offer:
- Paid flexible sick and personal time (5.38% of hours worked)
- Employer-paid health and paramedical benefits for eligible employees
- RRSP matching and/or professional development allowance
- 3 weeks of paid vacation (prorated based on FTE) and 13 paid holidays, including year-end closure
- Paid mileage for community visits
- Ongoing support for professional development, including in-house learning opportunities
Pacekids Programs is an equal opportunity employer and values the contributions of a diverse workforce. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and lived experiences. If you require accommodation during the application or interview process, please let us know.
If you're ready to make a meaningful impact in the lives of children and families, we'd love to hear from you.
