Co-Op Mechanical Engineering Intern

As an Engineering Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in a production environment while supporting our Engineering and Production teams. Join our dynamic team and become a vital part of organizational excellence and success.

Responsibilities:

  • Support in conducting time and motion studies to identify process efficiencies.
  • Write, review, and update work instructions and other production documentation.
  • Asist in designing and fabricating jigs, fixtures, and tooling for production processes.
  • Support manufacturing engineering projects, analyze data, and present findings to stakeholders.
  • Prepare presentations, reports, and other technical documentation.
  • Apply Health, Safety, and Environment (HS&E) standards in all activities to ensure compliance.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members across different departments and levels of the organization.
  • Support Engineering Department during new product releases, including updating and verifying Bills of Materials (BOM).
  • Assist with 2D floor layout designs and process planning.
  • Contribute to Lean Manufacturing initiatives such as 5S, Kaizen, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Support other business priorities as required by the Engineering Team or Leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in a post-secondary technical program (master's, bachelor's, diploma, or technical) from an accredited institution.
  • Familiarity with a manufacturing environment and production processes.
  • Experience with designing tools, jigs, and fixtures using 3D CAD software.
  • Basic understanding of electrical circuits, wiring diagrams, and P&ID schematics.
  • Interest in manufacturing engineering and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to interpret data, identify trends, and propose practical solutions
  • Willingness to work onsite full-time at our Acheson, Alberta facility.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable working on your feet in a busy manufacturing environment for extended periods.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy and problem solving
  • Demonstrate self-motivation, eagerness to learn, and the aptitude to grow in a manufacturing engineering environment.
  • Must be open to continuous feedback - open to coaching and guidance from experienced associates.
  • Applicants must have work authorization in Canada that does not require current or future visa sponsorship.

Physical demands & working conditions:

  • Must wear PPE within the shop (Hi-vis vest, Steel toed boots, safety glasses), and earplugs when needed
  • This role may occasionally involve lifting and handling items in a manufacturing setting.
  • Meet attendance schedule – reliable, dependable and on time.
  • Must have reliable transportation
