The Ministry of Corrections and Policing has a career opportunity for a highly innovative and organized individual with strong communication skills in the role of Deputy Director of Administration.

As a member of the senior management team of the Pine Grove Correctional Centre, the Deputy Director of Administration role includes:

  • Financial manager - preparing expenditure analysis, preparing forecasts and budget proposals; controlling, monitoring and reporting on all centre financial processes, implementing spending controls, auditing functions and contract administration;
  • Financial strategist to Director and senior management team - providing analysis and evaluation, developing proposals and managing projects, participating in senior management problem solving, being a team player in a matrix management organization; and
  • Manager - supervising and developing the food services, material management, and the accounting/clerical teams.

The successful candidate will have knowledge of government financial administration and budgeting processes, including policy and audit/control requirements; Microsoft programs, specifically Excel and Word; and Midas and PSC Client. You will also have knowledge of government procedures and policies relating to procurement and contract administration, and contemporary management theory and practice, particularly project management in a matrix management environment.

Candidates will typically possess a degree in commerce or business administration with an accounting major and/or a professional accounting designation and demonstrated experience in budget and finance. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
